Summary
A member of the public is invited to join a Collection and Review Panel, which will contribute to the use of samples, tissue and/or data within our biobank for use in biomedical research.
This is a great opportunity to contribute to how the Northern Care Alliance Research Collection (NCARC) utilises samples, tissue and data resource that could shape future healthcare services and treatment of our patients.
Who can take part?
We welcome applications to the NCARC Collection and Review Panel from people who live in, or access healthcare services across the Northern Care Alliance footprint – Salford, Bury, Rochdale & Oldham – and who have a keen interest in how biobanks provide a critical resource in supporting biomedical research.
We are looking for someone who can help to ensure the views, experiences and interests of local patients, carers and services users inform the decisions for approving access to biomaterial and data within our biobank.
What will taking part involve?
Panel members are required to provide feedback on whether samples and/or data should be provided to researchers as requested, based on the information provided in the Access application form.
Training and support will be made available to enable people to be fully involved, some of which may be done remotely/online.
This is a voluntary position, however a fixed payment of £20 per application reviewed and submitted within the requested timeframe will be made in recognition of your contribution.
Receiving payment of a fee for your involvement in research may have implications for you, especially if you are unemployed, receiving state benefits or retired. This is because the payment you receive could be treated as earnings. If you think you may be affected, we advise you to contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau by phone 0800 144 8848 or at https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/
Where will it take place?
