Cardiovascular health information day

26 September, 10am-1pm

Deeplish Community Centre, 59 Hare Street, Rochdale, OL11 1JT

Find out how you can lower your risk of stroke, heart disease and type 2 diabetes at a health information event in Deeplish on 26 September.

The community drop-in event is open to all. It will focus on these diseases because they account for around a fifth of preventable early deaths in Rochdale.

Dr Moaad Arebi will explain about how to take care of your heart health, how to maintain your wellbeing after stroke, and how to lower your risk of type 2 diabetes.

The event will also provide the chance to take part in the Genes and Health research study. This is one of the world’s largest community-based genetics studies and aims to improve health among people of Pakistani and Bangladeshi heritage. South Asian people have some of the highest rates of heart disease, diabetes, and poor health in the UK.

Research like this helps the NHS to improve diagnosis, treatment and care. Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is a leading organisation for research. It runs Rochdale Infirmary and other local hospital and community health services.

The Trust’s community research team will be at the event to explain more, alongside the Research for the Future team, who help people find out about and take part in health and care research. You will also be able to speak to a Community Mental Health Champion from Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

You can drop in at any time – you don’t have to stay for the full session. Deeplish Community Centre is at 59 Hare Street, Rochdale, OL11 1JT.
