The Royal Oldham has expertise in neonatal and reproductive health research, with specialist research midwives and a research-active neonatal intensive care unit. Leading the paediatric consultants is Dr Prakash Kamath, broadening the portfolio to include respiratory studies from both commercial and academic sources.

Dr Sarah McCullough, one of the Deputy Directors of research at The Royal Oldham leads several trials in the neonatal unit, working with the Consultant team and Advanced Neonatal Practitioners, including an ANNP Principal Investigator.
