NCA’s Professor Smeeta Sinha and Professor Nick Lees will mark their MAHSC Honorary Clinical Chairs by giving inaugural lectures on Monday 20 May, 12.30-1.30pm.
Prof Sinha is a Consultant Nephrologist at Salford Royal, the NHS England National Clinical Director for Renal Medicine and the NHS England Clinical Lead for the Renal Services Transformation Programme. Her clinical interests are in glomerulonephritis and multi-morbidity. She also leads the complex glomerulonephritis service at Salford Royal.
She is a key opinion leader in the field of vascular calcification and calciphylaxis and is the Chief Investigator for the UK Calciphylaxis Study. She is also NCA’s Deputy Director of Research for innovation and improvement and Lead Researcher for NCARC’s renal collection.
Prof Lees has been a Consultant General, Colorectal and Intestinal Failure Surgeon at Salford since 2004. He has developed a busy clinical practice in high risk bowel surgery for conditions including colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. In particular he has grown a national practice in intestinal failure, managing patients referred from around the UK in need of complex and exacting multidisciplinary surgical care.
For several years he led work to reconfigure delivery of general surgery throughout Greater Manchester in order to achieve greater standardisation. In 2018 he was voted Public Servant of the Year by the City of Salford.
