Darren Green, Consultant in acute medicine and nephrology at Salford Royal, has been appointed Visiting Professor in the Department of Life Sciences at Manchester Metropolitan University.
His research portfolio addresses the interaction between heart and kidneys in disease, with a focus on heart failure in chronic kidney disease. He is an expert advisor to NICE and the National Research Lead for the Society for Acute Medicine.
Locally, Professor Green is involved in developing cross-departmental research collaborations and is always looking for new ideas and partnerships. He has been a Consultant at Salford Royal since 2015.
His appointment is the latest in an impressive number of new chairs for colleagues across the Northern Care Alliance this year, recognising their outstanding contributions to research, education and clinical care. These include an honorary professorship for Group Chief Executive Raj Jain at the University of Salford and new roles for five further consultants.
