Patient group share feedback on research plans

Patients, carers and researchers pushed forward with plans for future research at the Donal O’Donoghue Renal Research Centre’s first face to face meeting of its patient and public involvement and engagement group.

Members of the 22-strong group met members of the kidney research team at Salford, including clinical director Dr Dimitrios Poulikakos, centre manager Dr Ivona Baricevic-Jones and Professor of nursing Helen Hurst.

Three Salford colleagues gave presentations on their current and future work, with dietitian Rebecca Pearce and consultants Dr Ibrahim Ali and Dr James Tollitt seeking and receiving helpful feedback from patients to shape their next steps.

All the group agreed it had been a valuable and informative experience and they plan to repeat the meeting format – complete with home-made treats and music curated by patient and DJ Sonia Brown!
