Working in research as the NHS reaches 70

Over the last 70 years, the NHS has delivered huge medical advances and improvements to public health, meaning we can all expect to live longer lives.

From its very first days, research has been central to the way the NHS has transformed people’s health and wellbeing. Our staff are proud to have contributed to some key breakthroughs – and are looking forward to seeing how current research will translate into better diagnosis, treatment and care.

Here two members of staff, one our longest-serving nurse and the other our latest recruit, give a glimpse of their working lives in research in the NHS.
