This year is the 40th anniversary of the then Hope Hospital (now Salford Royal) becoming a University Teaching Hospital. As part of the celebrations, this year’s Salford Royal Open Day on Tuesday October 7 will feature an informal session to look at how life has changed for trainee doctors over the years. Former Medical Director Dr Peter Barnes will host the talk and will be joined by a small group of doctors, including those who completed their training at Salford Royal in the 1970s and 1980s and those who are new to the profession. The event runs from 2pm to 3pm in Frank Rifkin Lecture Theatre, Mayo Building, and there’s no need to book.
